the brother, the most important. went to the edge of the world and back just to see her safe, and he's never asked for thanks. he takes care of me. she takes care of him.
the righteous man, the first to call her own. she grew on him and he grew on her, and now he's the most important too. the one who will get us home, if anyone can.
the protector, the first face she saw and the first to pick through the circles and see the words within. he walks the nights too, and they sleep safer in their beds because of it.
the stag. a tragic future to come, but he will try to avoid it all the same. he has to try, because what else is there to be done? magic, in the truest sense of the word. he taught her to love flowers again.
the trialist. important by association and now in his own right too. lived through much and died through more, and still standing strong. too much hair.
the good doctor. cares so much and leaves so little for herself, reminds her of the brother in the best possible ways. offers her help and one day she'll take it, maybe.
the dragon. a little soul that understands more than most. animals make promises that people can't keep, and he'll never break her heart or know what it is to betray her.
the demon. can't trust her but who can anyone trust anyway? interesting when she wants to be, the best ally and the worst enemy. fought against her once, wouldn't like to repeat it.
the detective. he understands and comprehends, he tries to see the sights she sees and she is thankful for it, so thankful. looks past the words to see the girl and she looks past his to see the man. special, incredibly so.
the preacher, he holds the book and teaches from it but belief is more complex. the symbols don't always match up but if he believes there is a God then maybe she will listen.
the trickster. the most complicated, no one knows. so cold, so private and yet his words fill with promise and leave her with desire for a life free of her plague. has not earned trust, will not trust, but she wants to. too much.
the leviathan. one and many all at once, he leads and he believes he is indestructible. he believes that he will win and he is wrong, but she won't pry. won't push. he's too strong for that.
